Providing businesses across a variety of industries with high-temperature tape is one of our specialties at Englewood Company. Keep reading to learn about the top applications for high-temperature tape and let’s have a conversation about your business’ tape needs.
High-temperature PTFE Tapes and fabrics often called Teflon® are used to create non-stick abrasion-resistant surfaces at elevated temperatures. Typical Applications include heat sealing, shrink wrapping, polyethylene bag manufacturing, lamination, and oven conveyors. High-temperature silicone adhesives allow for performance at 500F, and fabrics can function up to 550F. The high-temperature tape will minimize surface wear and tear and helps to maximize yields.
High-temperature tape is lightweight, durable, and able to withstand a wide range of temperatures. Teflon or PTFE tapes, fabrics, and belts will be used during processes that require heat to seal or fabricate food, pharmaceuticals, or other consumer packages to improve efficiency. Florofab®products protect the heat-sealing elements and allow the transfer of heat while protecting them from sticking to the packaging films. PTFE tapes and fabric can be manufactured into belts, Zone-Coated parts, and curtains to protect sealing elements and ensure protection. The proper selection of PTFE products can significantly improve productivity, reduce downtime and enhance appearance. Enhanced premium surfaces, specialty formulated adhesives can increase life cycles and minimize clean up. Fabricated parts can make routine maintenance fast and easy.
Composite manufacturing, such as wind turbine blades, requires the durability and release characteristics found in PTFE tapes and fabrics. Florofab® products increase efficiency in preparing the molds, reduce defects, eliminate chemical cleaning, and provide less residue on removal. Teflon or PTFE tape endures abrasion, resists chemical bonding, and offers great release properties that lend it well to the composite manufacturing processes.
Vinyl window manufacturing requires PTFE tapes or fabrics to cover the heat plates used to complete the miter joint. A clean secure weld is critical to the quality and structural integrity of the window frame. The performance and durability of the Florofab® product can improve productivity by increasing cycle time and reducing downtime when changing the Teflon® covering the plates. Self-adhesive weld paper can be an “easy” solution if it is removed cleanly and is easily replaced. Fabricated parts made of Florofab® nonadhesive PTFE fabric can provide a better total value and some welding heads are equipped with a quick-change device; clamps or fixtures to hold sleeves or some type of fabricated part. Popular sizes of prefabricated parts in stock can make changing the weld paper quick and easy.
As the name suggests, high-temperature lamination is a laminating machine that can apply tremendous pressure and sees peak temperatures. In order to get the job done, the selection of the proper Teflon® or PTFE tape is of utmost importance to ensure that it can handle the extreme temperatures experienced in the lamination process.
